In a constantly evolving insurance sector, AXA now relies on modern financial planning to strengthen its responsiveness and the reliability of its accounting and commercial processes. Thanks to the Anaplan platform, the Group has significantly reduced the time required to consolidate data and produce its financial statements, while ensuring full compliance with IFRS 17 requirements.
As a global insurance leader operating in more than 50 countries, AXA faces an environment marked by economic fluctuations, persistent inflation and increased regulatory constraints. To continue providing its customers with the best possible protection, the company chose to rethink its planning and performance management methods.
“Planning plays a central role for our finance department and for AXA as a whole, because our financial stability is the foundation of our commitment to customers,” explains Linnart Ruser, Financial Operations Lead at AXA Germany.
Faster, more reliable financial processes
The integration of Anaplan into AXA’s financial and commercial ecosystem has automated the consolidation of data from multiple sources, including the SAP general ledger and distribution systems. This setup provides a unified view of the Group’s performance and facilitates real-time analysis.
The benefits are tangible: preparing profit and loss statements (P&L) now requires 50% less time, teams can analyse consolidated results more quickly, and data quality has reached a 100% reliability level.
“Anaplan enables us to work differently and see results quickly,” notes Ruser. “We can adapt our models and calculations without relying on external service providers, while maintaining a high level of transparency in our figures.”
A solid foundation for the future
According to the publisher, this approach is part of AXA’s broader ambition: to establish a data-driven culture and strengthen its ability to anticipate market developments. The modern financial planning adopted by the Group promotes collaboration between finance and commercial departments, while improving forecast accuracy.
Building on these successes, AXA plans to continue developing new performance management and reporting models within its IFRS 17 environment. The objective: to gain a consolidated view of all its business segments and continue making informed decisions based on reliable, real-time data.
