How flydubai automated its financial reconciliations with Jedox

Faced with growing financial volumes, flydubai developed a centralized reconciliation system with Jedox capable of processing 5 million monthly transactions from 90 source files. The automation covers more than 115 scenarios, facilitates daily reconciliations, strengthens traceability and supports the evolution of financial processes.

Faced with an increase in the volume of its financial data, the airline flydubai undertook to evolve its accounting reconciliation processes. With nearly 5 million transactions to process each month, 90 source files and more than 3,000 travel agency accounts, the challenge was to establish an environment that was faster, more reliable and capable of supporting the company’s growth.

A process that had become difficult to manage manually

Founded in 2008 in Dubai, flydubai now has more than 6,700 employees and serves an extensive international network. In 2025, the airline generated revenue of AED 13.6 billion.

This growth was accompanied by increasingly complex financial operations. Before Jedox was implemented, a significant part of the general ledger account reconciliation process still relied on manual or semi-automated procedures.

The Finance teams had to manage reconciliations relating to bank cards and other payment methods, travel agencies, payroll and various financial processes. Reconciliation cycles, conducted primarily on a monthly basis, limited the ability to quickly detect discrepancies and identify potential cash recovery risks or opportunities.

The objective was therefore clear: automate reconciliations while strengthening balance sheet controls and governance.

Jedox at the heart of a centralized system

To address these needs, flydubai relied on the Jedox platform to develop its Reconciliation and Control System (RACS).

The system centralizes and automates several stages of the process: data preparation, validation, reconciliation, rule application, reference generation and reporting.

The solution can integrate data from more than 90 source files and process approximately 5 million transactions each month. Its infrastructure is also designed to scale up to 10 million transactions.

The system currently covers more than 115 reconciliation scenarios and 100 general ledger accounts, providing flydubai with a standardized framework for managing particularly high-volume financial operations.

Automation that goes beyond reconciliation

One of the project’s strengths lies in Jedox’s ability to connect and transform different data sources.

RACS includes secure SFTP exchanges, automated or ad hoc data loads and dynamic reconciliation rules. Jedox Integrator also supports data transformation and preparation processes.

Overall, the system relies on around 50 data sources and 15 transformation processes, including several preconfigured and customized transformations.

More than 40 reports also enable teams to monitor reconciliations, analyze anomalies and track results.

From monthly reconciliation to daily monitoring

The main benefit observed concerns the frequency of reconciliations. Whereas teams previously worked primarily on monthly cycles, flydubai now has a process that enables daily reconciliations.

This change enables the Finance teams to identify discrepancies more quickly and respond more effectively.

Automation has also reduced reliance on manual tasks and spreadsheets. As a result, the airline benefits from improved operational traceability and more comprehensive audit trail coverage.

Visibility into financial data and the status of reconciliations has also been strengthened through centralized workflows and structured reporting capabilities.

A project designed to support growth

Beyond the immediate operational gains, flydubai’s experience illustrates another important issue for Finance departments: building processes capable of keeping pace with the company’s growth.

With more than 100 features and more than 40 reports, RACS is now an enterprise-scale application. Its architecture can accommodate increasing transaction volumes and the emergence of new reconciliation scenarios.

The project demonstrates how reconciliation automation can go beyond simply reducing manual tasks. By centralizing data, standardizing controls and improving visibility, it becomes a genuine lever for financial governance.

A success built on scalability

The flydubai case illustrates the progressive transformation of a complex financial process into a more automated, controlled and scalable environment.

For a company handling several million monthly transactions, the challenge is no longer simply to reconcile accounts, but to do so quickly, reliably and with a level of control suited to growth.

With Jedox, flydubai now has an infrastructure capable of meeting these requirements while preparing for the next stages of its development.
