Pigment strengthens its modelling capabilities with the “Clone Data” feature

As part of its ongoing commitment to optimising the user experience and accelerating planning processes, Pigment has enhanced its modelling capabilities with the introduction of “Clone Data in Metrics”. This new feature is designed to simplify data duplication in business models while ensuring rigour and control.
Simplified, code-free data duplication
Designed for business users, this feature enables data to be copied from an existing item – such as a product, country or business unit – to a new item within the same Pigment application. It automates what was previously a time-consuming manual task while preserving metric integrity.
How does it work?
Accessible from the list editor or Block Explorer, the feature enables users to:
Select a source item (e.g. “France”) and a target item (e.g. “Italy”),
View the relevant metrics (only those not driven by formulas),
Confirm the operation after a clear summary of the data to be copied.
It is important to note that the action is irreversible, ensuring considered and controlled use of the tool.
A controlled feature
The feature is only available to users with advanced rights, including the “Define Application security” permission. This measure ensures robust data governance in line with collaborative planning best practices.
A powerful lever for large organisations
There are many use cases: launching a new product, opening operations in a new country, creating an alternative scenario... In each of these contexts, Clone Data enables existing structures and assumptions to be faithfully replicated, avoiding manual errors and accelerating deployment.
