Key takeaways from the latest Oracle EPM Cloud update according to Paul Lewis

09 April 2025

Smart industry concept with abstract high speed technology motion blur

Oracle has announced its new update for EPM Cloud, scheduled for test environments on 4 April 2025 and for production on 18 April 2025. This release brings several important enhancements relating to security, data integration, artificial intelligence and user experience.

First, stronger security

From now on, all connections to modules such as Data Integration, Task Manager, Narrative Reporting or Enterprise Data Management must use the secure HTTPS protocol. This provides better protection for exchanges between systems.

Next, improvements to data imports and exports

Several new features make file management easier:

  • Files with an invalid extension are now automatically blocked, helping to prevent errors.

  • It is also possible to customise the label used for missing data during an import or export (the well-known #Missing).

  • For BSO cubes, a new option allows implicit sharing to be disabled, providing more control over exported data (you can choose to export child values, not just parent values).

A major step forward for data integration

Good news for administrators: it is now possible to copy an existing integration in Data Integration. This saves considerable time, especially when duplicating or migrating.

Smart features powered by generative AI

Oracle is also integrating generative AI (GenAI) into the Insights feature. In practice, this makes it possible to:

  • Automatically enrich an insight with more context,

  • Or summarise several insights to better understand an overall situation and identify root causes.

This makes analysis easier and facilitates sharing with teams.

A better user experience

In reports and books, it is now possible to type a member name directly into prompts, without having to search for it manually. It is faster and more convenient.

Finally, a new version of Smart View

Smart View is also improving: it now supports IPM Insights, along with other fixes. It is therefore recommended to update as soon as it becomes available.

And finally…

Oracle is already announcing changes for the next May 2025 update, particularly to AI-related configuration files in Narrative Reporting. If you have modified these files, you will need to plan for testing.
