Faced with the growing complexity of its operations and the need to gain a clear, responsive financial view, Europcar chose to completely rethink its financial planning. Operating in more than 130 countries, the group opted for the Pigment platform, a modern, collaborative solution designed to provide greater flexibility, speed and reliability in performance management.
From complexity to clarity
Before Pigment, Europcar managed its financial planning and reporting processes through a range of disparate tools: Google Sheets, SAP S/4HANA and its legacy EPM software. Although robust, this setup was unable to address the complexity of the group’s financial cycles — actuals, five-year plan, budget, quarterly and monthly forecasts.
“Our previous tool could only handle one month of data at a time. We were constantly constrained,” explains Brigitta Sysol, FP&A Systems Lead at Europcar. “With Pigment, we can now work with 24 months of data, which significantly speeds up our processes and gives us instant visibility.”
Fast, collaborative implementation
One of the project’s key strengths was the speed of execution. In just ten weeks, Pigment was deployed within the finance department. The co-building approach — with the Pigment and Europcar teams working hand in hand — enabled rapid adoption of the tool.
“The co-build was a real success. I was able to learn how the platform works while we were building our model. Today, I can evolve it completely independently,” notes Brigitta Sysol.
A highly praised user experience
According to the vendor, users adopted Pigment immediately. Its intuitive interface and modern design facilitated the transition.
“Teams appreciate the ease of navigation and the clarity of the display. It is a real change in our day-to-day work,” says the FP&A Systems Lead.
Thanks to Pigment, Europcar has reduced manual tasks related to Excel files, improved data consistency and saved valuable time in reporting and forecasting cycles.
Towards integrated, sustainable planning
Building on this success, Europcar is already considering extending its use of Pigment to other strategic areas: 2026 budget planning and workforce planning. These developments aim to strengthen collaboration between finance and human resources, and to align financial planning even more closely with the group’s overall strategy.
