Workday Adaptive Planning is taking another step forward in its development within the U.S. public sector. On July 23, 2026, Workday Government announced that its planning solution had obtained FedRAMP Moderate authorization, a compliance level intended for systems handling sensitive but unclassified federal data.
This authorization opens up new opportunities for federal agencies seeking to modernize their financial and workforce planning practices while meeting stringent security and compliance requirements.
More Connected Financial and HR Planning
With this development, Workday Adaptive Planning aims to address the needs of public-sector organizations facing budget constraints and the need to better anticipate their workforce requirements.
The platform notably brings together workforce planning, budgeting and financial forecasting. Agencies can therefore analyze the financial and operational consequences of decisions such as a hiring freeze, budget reductions or a reorganization.
This approach also enables finance teams to compare different scenarios, allocate costs across programs and funding sources, and track budget developments throughout the management cycle.
Security at the Heart of the Announcement
Obtaining FedRAMP Moderate authorization is above all an important factor in the solution’s adoption by U.S. federal administrations. It confirms that Workday Adaptive Planning meets the security and compliance requirements associated with this authorization level.
Workday also highlights its audit capabilities and FIPS 140-3 compliance, designed to strengthen data protection and oversight of financial operations.
An Integrated EPM Approach
The announcement also illustrates the evolution of EPM platforms toward more connected planning environments. By integrating with Workday solutions dedicated to human resources and finance, Adaptive Planning aims to bring financial data and workforce-related data closer together.
For finance leaders, this connection can facilitate the assessment of trade-offs between resources, costs and strategic priorities. It also helps move beyond management based on isolated systems and files.
Availability Expected in 2027
Workday indicates that Workday Adaptive Planning should be available to Workday Government customers in early 2027.
With this FedRAMP Moderate authorization, Workday is therefore strengthening its planning offering for the U.S. public sector. The challenge now will be to turn this compliance into concrete use cases for agencies, particularly in budget management, financial forecasting and workforce planning.
