Pigment announced on 12 May 2026 that Virgin Voyages, a cruise line renowned for its innovative positioning, has selected its planning and performance management platform to transform its FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) processes.

With four ships currently in operation and a strategy focused on growth and data utilisation, Virgin Voyages aims to strengthen its financial planning, reporting and real-time analysis capabilities. The project is intended in particular to centralise existing tools on a single platform in order to improve financial visibility and accelerate decision-making.

A drive to centralise financial processes

Before this project, Virgin Voyages' FP&A teams managed their reporting, forecasting and strategic analysis activities across several separate tools. This organisation required significant manual work to ensure data consistency and track the different versions of reports.

According to the company, this situation limited the time available for higher value-added activities, particularly strategic analysis and support for operational decision-making.

Matt Dawley, Vice President of FP&A at Virgin Voyages, explains that the company now intends to apply to the finance function the same data- and artificial intelligence-driven approach already used in its marketing and revenue management activities.

Pigment selected for its analytical capabilities and self-service approach

After reviewing several FP&A solutions, Virgin Voyages selected Pigment for its platform's flexibility, analytical capabilities and artificial intelligence features.

The cruise line also highlights the solution's ability to process large volumes of data while maintaining strong performance, a major consideration in a context of growth and increasing complexity of financial data.

Another decisive factor was the self-service features enabling business leaders to explore data directly and create their own analyses without systematically relying on the FP&A teams.

Three priorities for financial transformation

As part of this project, Virgin Voyages aims to achieve several key objectives:

  • establish a single, reliable source for the entire profit and loss statement;
  • improve variance analysis and real-time performance monitoring;
  • extend access to financial analysis to operational leaders and P&L owners.

Over the longer term, the company also plans to make greater use of Pigment's AI capabilities to automate certain executive reporting processes and identify performance trends more quickly.

Changing expectations of the finance function

For Pigment, this collaboration illustrates the changing role of finance departments, which are now expected not only to deliver historical reporting, but also to provide predictive analysis and support strategic decision-making in real time.

Stephen Macfarlane, Global Head of Revenue at Pigment, highlights that finance teams are now called upon to play an increasingly central role in guiding companies' performance and growth.
