At a time when companies are seeking ever greater flexibility, Drei Österreich, the Austrian subsidiary of the Three telecom group, has taken a major step forward in modernising its internal management. By adopting a modern, collaborative financial planning tool, the company has transformed the way its HR and Finance teams plan, analyse and anticipate tomorrow’s needs.
The end of the Excel era: making way for intelligent planning
For more than twenty years, Drei managed its workforce planning through a multitude of Excel spreadsheets and ageing systems. This approach led to frequent errors, duplication and a considerable loss of time for teams.
Each department worked in its own environment, without a genuine overall view of headcount, payroll costs or long-term forecasts. For a company with more than 1,000 employees, the need for a centralised financial planning tool had become urgent.
“This is the first time I have been able to plan different organisations with such flexibility and agility,” says Bianca Dicker, Senior Head of Controlling at Drei Österreich.
A single solution to unite HR, Finance and Controlling
With the implementation of Pigment, Drei consolidated all its planning processes onto a single platform.
More than 70 users now collaborate in real time on a shared model that centralises HR and financial data.
Teams have access to a single, reliable system that automates forecasting, tracks headcount and makes it easier to simulate different scenarios.
Thanks to this planning tool, Drei has complete transparency over costs: internal and external headcount, bonuses, salaries, reviews, benefits and even statutory penalties. This enhanced visibility enables the company to anticipate workforce changes and quickly adjust its forecasts.
New agility in forecasting
“Rolling forecasts” are now automated, with intelligent versions, real-time integration of actual data and a flexible structure.
Managers can adjust projections instantly in line with changes in the market, regulations or workforce.
This agility, previously impossible with Excel, strengthens Drei’s ability to make fast, informed decisions.
“With Pigment, we have opened up a new way of working with our data. It is a real cultural change,” explains Bianca Dicker.
A clear, collaborative view of the organisation
One of the major transformations for Drei was the ability to visualise its dynamic organisational charts.
Whether structures are agile or hierarchical, Pigment makes it possible to plan teams with great flexibility.
The company can now track its HR KPIs, analyse costs and measure the impact of every decision on overall performance.
What next? Towards sustainable and ESG planning
Building on the success of its HR planning, Drei already plans to extend the use of Pigment to new areas: a dashboard for carbon tracking and ESG performance, as well as comprehensive financial planning (FP&A).
This integrated approach will enable the company to link economic performance and environmental sustainability within a single digital ecosystem.
