Prophix has announced the launch of a new wave of artificial intelligence agents integrated into its Prophix One™ platform. This development reflects a clear ambition: to enable finance teams to delegate an increasing share of their operational tasks so they can focus on analysis and decision-making.
A response to new pressures on the finance function
At a time when finance teams need to deliver ever more reliable analyses more quickly, operational efficiency has become a key priority. According to Deloitte, 87 % of CFOs consider artificial intelligence essential to their operations by 2026. Yet many organisations still struggle to move beyond the experimentation stage.
Key factors include reliance on legacy spreadsheet-based models and the limitations of ungoverned AI solutions, which can raise reliability and control concerns.
Three advances to structure the use of AI in finance
With its Spring 2026 release, Prophix One introduces several agents designed to integrate directly into existing processes:
- Prophix Copilot for Microsoft Teams enables business users to access contextualised financial information directly within their working environment. This approach is intended to broaden access to data while maintaining a governance framework led by the finance function.
- Architect Agent automates the creation of financial models based on existing data and reports. Where such work could previously take several weeks, the agent can generate an actionable foundation in just a few hours, thereby reducing time to production.
- Consolidation Agent, scheduled for availability in spring 2026, will introduce natural-language querying capabilities for consolidation data. Teams will therefore be able to quickly identify variances, analyse contributions or detect anomalies.
A more autonomous, decision-oriented finance function
Beyond the features, Prophix is putting forward a structuring vision: that of “Autonomous Finance”, built on governed data and specialised agents capable of reliably performing complex tasks.
In this approach, artificial intelligence does not replace the finance function, but redefines its role. By automating the most time-consuming processes — consolidation, reporting and modelling — it frees up time for higher-value activities, such as performance analysis and supporting strategic decision-making.
A gradual repositioning of the role of finance teams
With this new wave of agents, Prophix aims to address a shift already under way in many organisations: moving from a finance function focused on data production to one focused on performance management.
By facilitating access to information, accelerating cycles and enhancing the reliability of analyses, these technologies could help transform practices for the long term. It remains to be seen whether companies can integrate these tools into their processes and evolve their ways of working.
In an economic environment where responsiveness and accuracy have become critical, the issue goes beyond simple technology adoption: it represents a genuine shift in mindset for the finance function.
