Jedox continues to enhance its EPM platform by improving the usability of Canvas, its report design and distribution environment. The latest development introduces a feature eagerly awaited by many users: freezing rows and columns (Freeze Panes) in embedded web spreadsheets.
Inspired by familiar Excel functionality, this new feature is designed to make it easier to navigate complex financial reports, which are often characterised by large volumes of data, multidimensional structures, and tables spanning multiple periods or scenarios.
Improved readability for large reports
With Freeze Panes, users can now keep key rows (accounts, entities, cost centres) and structural columns (periods, versions, assumptions) visible, even when scrolling vertically or horizontally. This improvement addresses a real need for finance teams working with increasingly dense management dashboards.
The feature makes it possible to freeze rows and columns simultaneously, with dedicated configuration settings. Jedox also introduces maximum width and height controls to precisely define frozen areas and scrollable areas within the same frame.
Smoother navigation in Canvas
Another notable contribution is the independent management of horizontal and vertical scrolling. This approach significantly improves the user experience, particularly in planning, consolidation, or group reporting reports, where cross-functional data analysis is essential.
The Freeze Panes feature is rolled out in a controlled manner through a progressive activation mechanism (feature flag), ensuring stability and controlled deployment across customer environments.
A further step towards a more mature web experience
With this development, Jedox confirms its commitment to bringing the web experience closer to the standards of convenience and productivity historically associated with office productivity tools, while retaining the power of a centralised EPM platform.
Although functionally discreet, this improvement represents a tangible lever for productivity and analysis quality for finance departments and performance management teams.
