Oracle strengthens EPM Cloud adoption with a new toolkit for Centers of Excellence.
22 April 2025
Oracle announces a strategic update to its EPM Cloud programme with the introduction of new resources designed to support Centers of Excellence (CoEs). The objective is to accelerate adoption, structure responsibilities and maximise the business value of EPM projects.
As more and more organisations migrate their planning, consolidation or reporting processes to integrated cloud environments, Oracle is emphasising the importance of structured governance through Centers of Excellence (CoEs). As part of its April 2025 EPM Cloud update, the vendor is enhancing its offering with practical tools, proven methodologies and educational resources to guide the creation and effective management of a CoE.
The RACI model at the heart of the approach
One of the key new features is the integration of the RACI model into project management tools. This well-known project management approach helps clarify roles and responsibilities:
Responsible: who performs the task
Accountable: who is answerable for it
Consulted: who provides input or expertise
Informed: who is kept up to date
Applying this model to an EPM project streamlines communication, avoids duplication and improves workload allocation across IT, finance and business teams. Oracle now provides a ready-to-use RACI template that can be used directly to establish a CoE.
Why establish an EPM Center of Excellence?
A Center of Excellence (or CoE) is a governance and best-practice framework designed to:
Ensure the long-term adoption of the EPM Cloud platform
Manage developments and change requests (change management)
Centralise functional and technical expertise
Improve the quality and consistency of deliverables
Bring business and IT teams together around a shared performance vision
This approach is strongly recommended for multi-team, multi-site or transforming organisations.
