Anaplan has announced a series of innovations centred on artificial intelligence, marking a significant evolution in the use of AI agents to support business decision-making.
This announcement includes the launch of new features, including Anaplan CoModeler, Custom Analyst and Agent Studio, as well as the availability of 12 ready-to-use business applications, designed to accelerate and enhance the reliability of planning processes.
A decision intelligence-oriented approach
With these new features, Anaplan is strengthening its positioning around a platform capable of going beyond the traditional analytics framework. The vendor highlights an approach in which artificial intelligence no longer merely provides answers, but directly contributes to the calculation and simulation of decisions.
Anaplan AI agents are based on a combination of several technology components:
- language models (LLMs) for conversational interaction,
- a deterministic calculation engine to ensure the reliability of results,
- real-time planning models incorporating explicit business rules.
The stated objective is to enable companies to measure the financial impact of a decision before it is implemented, in a secure and auditable environment.
AI agents integrated into business processes
Among the main innovations, Anaplan CoModeler is positioned as an assistant for teams responsible for modelling. It aims to accelerate the creation and optimisation of planning models while improving their consistency.
Meanwhile, Custom Analyst and Agent Studio provide an environment for designing and deploying customised AI agents. These tools enable companies to integrate intelligent assistants directly into their business processes while maintaining a high level of governance and control.
This approach illustrates a fundamental market trend: the shift from traditional analytical tools to systems incorporating intelligent agents capable of interacting, analysing and making recommendations.
Twelve applications to accelerate time-to-value
In addition, Anaplan announced the launch of 12 out-of-the-box business applications, covering key areas such as finance, supply chain, sales and human resources.
Use cases addressed include:
- project cost planning and profitability analysis for finance departments,
- spend and inventory optimisation for supply chain teams,
- sales and revenue forecasting for commercial functions,
- resource and workforce planning for human resources.
These applications incorporate business best practices built on several years of planning experience, with the aim of reducing deployment timelines and implementation-related risks.
Growing adoption in complex environments
Anaplan points out that its platform is already used by numerous large organisations, particularly in environments where the complexity of decisions requires strong simulation and forecasting capabilities.
The integration of Anaplan AI agents therefore aims to address a growing need: to have tools capable of simultaneously processing operational and financial data, while providing actionable recommendations at scale.
Towards a transformation of performance management practices
With this announcement, Anaplan is part of a broader movement to transform performance management tools. The integration of AI agents into decision-making processes could ultimately profoundly change the practices of finance departments and business functions.
Beyond technological innovation, the challenge lies in companies’ ability to integrate these tools into their organisation in order to fully benefit from augmented, faster and more reliable decision-making.
