Workday has just announced the acquisition of Sana, a pioneering company in AI applied to knowledge and learning tools. This transaction, worth approximately $1.1 billion, aims to transform Workday into a true “front door” to work, where data, actions and learning come together to make employees’ lives easier.
A new horizon for work
Since its founding in 2016, Sana has stood out for its intuitive solutions that help employees become more productive through AI. Its flagship products, Sana Learn and Sana Agents, are already used by more than one million users worldwide.
Through this acquisition, Workday plans to integrate these technologies directly into its platform. The goal? To create a proactive, personalised and intelligent work experience, capable of guiding employees through their tasks, anticipating their needs and simplifying everyday processes.
Intelligent agents to ease everyday work
With Sana Agents, users will be able to:
Quickly search for information across all of the company’s critical data sources (Workday, Google Drive, SharePoint, Office365…).
Automate repetitive tasks and execute complete workflows.
Generate documents, presentations and dashboards based on internal knowledge.
These agents promise dramatic time savings: some companies have already seen up to a 95% reduction in time spent on certain tasks and a doubling of productivity for some operations.
AI-powered learning and development
With Sana Learn, Workday intends to transform training and skills development. This AI platform enables the creation of courses, personalised tutoring and learning content at scale. Companies in the automotive, fintech and industrial sectors have already observed:
An increase in training engagement of up to 275%.
A reduction in course creation time from four months to four days.
Content generation reduced from three weeks to three hours.
These capabilities will complement Workday Learning, providing employees with hyper-personalised learning pathways and enabling companies to quickly develop their teams’ key skills.
A shared vision
“Sana’s team and its AI-native approach align perfectly with our vision of reinventing the future of work,” explains Gerrit Kazmaier, President of Workday. For Joel Hellermark, founder of Sana: “We are delighted to bring our tools to 75 million Workday users and contribute to this new era of superintelligence for work.”
