Oracle EPM Cloud continues to evolve with a series of strategic updates. On the agenda: new features, improvements to the Smart View interface, developments in metadata management, and the end of support for certain legacy versions. These changes further modernise and enhance the performance of Oracle’s cloud planning platform.

New features to drive performance

One of this month’s key developments concerns metadata validation when refreshing cubes. Oracle EPM will now automatically flag name conflicts (dimensions or members), enabling users to correct errors before the process affects the cube structure. This is a key step in preventing disruptions related to data quality.

Another significant new feature is the increase in the number of cards that can be displayed on the home page, rising from 16 to 20. This enhancement provides a richer, more customisable interface, meeting users’ needs for quick access to essential content.

Smart View is enhanced

The Smart View tool, a cornerstone of the Excel experience for Oracle EPM users, also benefits from notable improvements:

  • Support for grid spreading in Flex Forms, now compatible with Mac and Google Workspace environments.

  • Introduction of the Clear Shared Members option to simplify metadata imports and prevent duplicates.

Metadata management: pipelines evolve

In Enterprise Data Management, two new task types enhance pipelines:

  • Extract Dimension Viewpoint, to extract targeted viewpoints on dimensions.

  • Extract Package, facilitating the bulk extraction of metadata-related objects.

These additions strengthen the integration of data governance processes with EPM applications.

Major transitions planned in the short term

Oracle also confirms important upcoming changes:

End of support for Forms 1.0 and Dashboards 1.0 from June 2025. All new environments will automatically migrate to the more modern, high-performing 2.0 versions, aligned with the Redwood user experience. Oracle is already encouraging its customers to prepare for this transition.

Phased removal of infolets, with their creation to be disabled between June and September 2025. Environments adopting the Redwood theme will no longer offer this functionality.

Finally, Oracle plans to change the permissions associated with the Power User role: going forward, these users will need write access to create or modify forms, dashboards, or subfolders. This change is intended to strengthen the consistency of application governance.
