Budget planning: Centage reinvents spreadsheets for finance departments.
23 April 2025
Centage has announced a major update to its “Worksheets”. The stated objective is to transform the user experience for finance professionals and overcome the limitations of traditional Excel files.
In a blog post entitled “From Spreadsheets to Superpowers”, the brand unveils a new generation of spreadsheets, redesigned to combine power, usability and collaboration.
A smoother, faster, smarter environment
Key new features include:
A collapsible row details panel: for clear, focused viewing without information overload.
Bulk row deletion: to clean up tables in just a few clicks.
A redesigned organisation panel: to sort, group and reorganise data according to the needs of each department.
Smart filtering, including on hidden columns: enabling users to cross-reference information without cluttering the display.
Adjustable formatting options: with or without decimals, as required.
Enhanced right-click functionality: to access sorting, freezing or automatic column resizing options.
The ability to freeze columns on the left or right: for easier comparison of critical data.
Advanced search with conditional filters: to find exactly what you are looking for, even in complex data sets.
A direct response to finance teams’ frustrations
While the interface retains the familiar look of spreadsheets, what lies beneath is radically different. “We listened to our users and wanted to offer them a solution that combines the power of enterprise software with the flexibility of an Excel file – without its drawbacks,” explains the Centage team.
The evolution is designed to address the classic pain points of finance departments: tedious manual data entry, data loss, lack of version control, difficult collaboration, and more.
A credible alternative to Excel for finance departments
With this redesign, Centage confirms its ambition to establish itself as a credible alternative to the major players in the EPM market. The company aims to attract CFOs and management controllers seeking productivity, reliability and ease of use in their budgeting processes.
