Anaplan continues to expand its data integration capabilities with the introduction of Snowflake Writeback, a new feature available in Anaplan Data Orchestrator (ADO). Announced on 14 May 2026, this new capability is designed to simplify the automated transfer of data between the Anaplan planning platform and Snowflake.
This feature marks a further step in the vendor’s open strategy, which aims to connect financial planning, analytics and enterprise data management environments more closely.
A direct connection between planning and analytics
With Snowflake Writeback, companies can now export transformed and validated data directly from Anaplan to Snowflake tables. The objective is to streamline exchanges between finance teams, analytics platforms and decision-support systems.
This integration makes it possible to:
- automatically feed reporting and business intelligence tools;
- synchronise planning data with the company’s data ecosystem;
- reduce manual handling and the risk of errors;
- accelerate the availability of data for analysis.
The functionality is based on Anaplan Data Orchestrator pipelines, with an interface designed to simplify the configuration and monitoring of flows.
Three data loading modes
The new feature offers several write methods to meet different business and technical requirements.
The Full Replace mode fully replaces the data in the target table each time it runs. This approach ensures that the Snowflake environment always contains the most recent version of the data.
The Append mode adds new data to existing data, without prior deletion.
Finally, the Upsert (incremental) mode allows only modified records to be updated while inserting new rows. This approach is particularly suited to large data volumes and frequent updates.
An approach focused on automation and governance
Anaplan also emphasises the automation of data flows. Pipelines can be integrated into scheduled workflows to automatically run exports at a defined frequency or as part of a broader business process.
The vendor also highlights the monitoring and governance capabilities associated with this feature. Each pipeline has an audit history that enables users to view execution statuses, timestamps and the latest updates performed.
From a security perspective, the connection between the two platforms relies on 2048-bit RSA key pair authentication to secure data transfers.
A strategic challenge for finance departments and data teams
With this announcement, Anaplan is responding to growing demand from companies seeking to bring EPM environments, cloud data platforms and analytics tools closer together.
For finance departments and data teams, integration between Anaplan and Snowflake can help improve the flow of strategic data, strengthen the consistency of analyses and accelerate decision-making.
This development also illustrates the determination of EPM vendors to integrate more deeply into modern data architectures, where financial planning and analytics are increasingly operating in a connected way.
